After teaching for more than 6 years, I felt I needed to develop more as a teacher and began to look around at options. A friend of mine had already studied with SGI and I decided to study with them too.

The course was of a high quality, and suited my learning style and situation. I could pace my studies according to my other commitments, and even managed to fit in a few holidays! The materials provided everything I needed to investigate new ideas and develop as a teaching practitioner, mixing reading and theory with ideas to try out in class and reflect on. The tutors were on hand via email and I never felt that I lost out by doing the course through distance learning.

For my two week teaching practice, I was helped to find accommodation a short tube ride away from the school, which gave a study area and peace and quiet to prepare my lessons. I found the tutors extremely supportive and the other teachers and staff a pleasure to work with.

Since finishing the course I have continued to work for the British Council overseas in increasingly interesting and challenging roles, which would not have been possible without completing this course. I've personally recommended SGI to a few of my friends who have also completed the course with them since.

I've stayed in touch with my tutors since I finished and have popped into the school when I've been back in London to say 'Hello'. Naz, one of my tutors, acted as one of my academic referees to help me get onto a distance MA course in Educational Technology and TESOL, of which I've just finished my first year's study.
